Grassroots
Political Action

Almost every day Congress and State Legislatures across the country make decisions that greatly impact our lives.

Corporations and the rich have a great deal of influence over government actions. By joining together with other working people who share our concerns, we can balance their power.

IBEW members, through our union, fight for:

  1. Stronger workers' rights, including the right to have a safe and healthful place to work, to be protected from discrimination of any kind and to organize a union without employer interference.
  2. Benefits working people deserve, such as Social Security, Medicare, unemployment compensation, and workers' compensation.
  3. Better priorities for government programs, so that public funds are not used for corporate special interests but for good jobs, education, transportation, childcare, public safety, housing and protection of the environment we live in.
  4. Fair trade policies that create and preserve good jobs and raise workers' conditions in other countries instead of lowering ours.
